Zamir Abdulkerimov is the Secretary of the Council of Prosecutor Generals of CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States).
He is also the main suspect in the hit and run car accident [source], in which a young woman was killed.
On October 6, 2012 Abdulkerimov’s Mercedes swerved into the oncoming lane and hit a 26-years-old woman, fatally injuring her.
The driver did not stop, but the accident itself was recorded by a dash camera of one car. The dash camera car driver rushed after the offender and soon caught him up. Later the witness even identified the hit-and-run driver as Zamir Abdulkerimov.
But suddenly the case got an unexpected direction…
From LifeNews.Ru:
Abdulkerimov, who had been hiding from investigators for a long time, finally gave the testimony. According to him, 5 minutes before the fatal collision he sold his car to a casual passerby!
The prime suspect, who under various pretexts was evading the interrogation, recently agreed to answer the questions of investigators. However, after it the case became only more complicated.
- Not only Abdulkerimov said that he sold his car, he also was not able to say who exactly the buyer was, – told a source from police.
According to Zamir Abdulkerimov, it was a casual “street” deal. That day, the prosecutor stopped his Mercedes S320 near a small stall to buy a pack of cigarettes.
- Allegedly, a man came up to him and said that he liked the car and wanted to buy it immediately. The suspect claimed to have received half of the money amount on the spot and handed the car keys to the buyer.
Investigators say that the man who witnessed the accident and followed the Mercedes had initially identified Abdulkerimov from a photo, but few months later he changed his testimony.
Currently, despite the absurdity of the suspect’s claims, the investigation does not have any formal evidences against Zamir Abdulkerimov.
- The investigation is continuing. We are verifying all facts, evidences and the claimed alibi, – say in the press-service of the Moscow Department of MVD. – The procedural decision on this case will be taken after careful analysis of all circumstances.

I’m surprised he let it go that far. If he bribed the inspectors right away they could have probably fixed it so that nobody saw anything, but now he is completely screwed. Since this has more or less gone viral, plenty will be willing to take his money but few will actually do anything to help.
Just makes me think how many more cases like that go unnoticed :(
Truly, that’s “darkness and money”…
Like the one commenter saying, “Nothing to say here, That’s Russia.” Yeah… Amazing what officials get away with….
What can Russia do about its law enforcement? It is scary to think how much this happens and isn’t caught on camera. I remember reading a text that implied that the “Russian mindset” (as if there is a singular one) emphasizes the importance of the state over the importance of the individual. Maybe it’s a communist holdover, I’m not sure. But it’s only one explanation as to why this type of tragedy doesn’t excite the number of people in Russia as it would in America.
I think it does not “excite” people that much, because there are too many outrageous stories happening in Russia every day…
That’s right. Try telling russians some scary ridiculous shit like this story. They become amazed for a moment, then they tell you something even scarier, and your story seems nothing special compared to that.
I can see that being true!
