The court of Krasnoyarsk will handle the criminal case against a babysitter, accused of beating a 9-months-old baby.

For her misdeeds the woman will either pay a fine of 40,000 rubles (less than 1,350 USD) or will be arrested for up to 3 months.

From the official site of Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD.ru):

A 55-years-old woman had worked for several years for a family in Krasnoyarsk, looking after two children.

In 2012 the third child was born in the family, and the parents decided to use her help again, leaving with her the youngest son for several hours a day.

One day the mother came home and saw that the baby was crying and lying in a rocking chair face down. Nanny said that the parents spoiled the kid too much and that  he was constantly crying and asking to be held in arms.

Parents talked with the eldest son; he said that the nanny was maltreating the baby and slapping him. To clarify the situation, the parents installed camera.

Few days later they reviewed the footage and saw the nanny beating their son’s head with hand and kicking his back. They fired the woman and filed a complaint in police. The babysitter’s guilt was confirmed, and a criminal case was opened and handed to the court.

Actions of the woman were qualified according to the Art. 116 (Part 1) of the Criminal Code – “Beatings and other acts of violence which have caused a physical pain”. The woman might face a fine of up to forty thousand rubles or arrest for a term of up to three months.
