Today the major news discussed in Russian internet was the results of American presidential elections. Let’s see what simple Russians think about Obama’s victory.
Below you will find 25 translated comments of Russian netizens left in different online newspapers (Echo Moskvy, Gazeta.ru, Komsomolskaya Pravda, Newsland.ru).
lanaeppey: Putin will dupe Obama like a sucker :(Путин разведёт Обаму как лоха :(
wed7777: Again they elected this clown.Опять выбрали этого шута горохового
[Note: Baba Vanga was the blind Bulgarian mystic to whom people attributed the gift of clairvoyance. She was very popular in Russia because of her alleged prophecy related to the Kursk submarine disaster. The commenter above refers to one of Vanga's prophecies circulating in internet. According to it Vanga predicted the 44th US President being Black and that he would be the last American president]

This isn’t a representative sample. Three of those publications are overflowing with liberals.
Yes – especially it’s true regarding the readers of “Echo Moskvy”.
Most of commenters there wanted Romney’s victory because of his anti-Russian attitude.
At least he has a large penis.
“Unlike in the USA, where president is just a puppet, we have the real owner who is completely and entirely responsible for the country. The real owners of the United States in case of any problems will remain in the shadow, while ours, as an owner, will have to risk his own head. In my opinion, this is much more honest.”
This is amazing insightful. You don’t have to be a conspiracy theorist to know very few men wield the power to arrange these presidential campaigns, through money and other means.
But do we ever examine these facts?
Add to this the tail wagging the dog, a huge military establishment bent on flexing its muscles, somewhere anywhere.
“Americans are used to choose, and here they are deprived of choice so skillfully that we have a lot to learn yet (to achieve that).”
Yes. We must compare the present political system to the fabled Soviet supermarkets whose shelves are bare.
Like the American voting queues, long line ups to pick from one or two barely passable items.
This summarizes the American election process very well.
Pray to god, the whole world, that America corrects itself.
Most of the Russians I know have little love for Republicans, primarily because Republicans seem so militant in their views. When trouble arises overseas, Republicans are generally quick to bomb the problems away, while Democrats are more likely to discuss things first.
While I understand that this is a gross misrepresentation of the truth, Republicans don’t do much to try and dissuade this belief.
lavrinenkoe I think said it best. How none of the candidates that anyone would actually be proud to vote for even got to debate, or put on the ballots. There is a true illusion of choice here in the US and we are going to suffer for it.
It is very interesting to me (as an American) to read about the views of people from another country on our Presidential Election.
It is especially interesting that people in Russia believe that the election was rigged, or at least quite a few of the comments here seem to indicate that they do. Many people here in the USA feel that way as well.
If they only saw there are about 20 names on the ballot for President. US citizens have more choice than they gave us credit for… It was nice to read some positive responses…
