Is there such thing as fashion for religious Muslim women?
First lady of Chechnya – Medni Kadyrova – proves that there is.
Kadyrov’s Wife Arranged the Chechen Fashion Show in Dubai
From Afisha.ru:
Medni Kadyrova has arranged the fashion show “Lady Chechnya” in Dubai. The show was prepared by the Fashion House Firdaws [ed: translated as Paradise from Arabic], which was founded by Medni’s husband – head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov.
Mrs. Kadyrova called the show “first step in conquering the fashion world of the Middle East.”
In total, visitors saw about 70 every day and evening outfit, including the wedding dresses aligned to the Muslim traditions. All the dresses were made by Zarima Yahaeva and Zaur Mamedov.
Currently production of the fashion house Firdaws is available only in boutiques of Grozny. In the future it plans to open shops in other countries and arrange a fashion show in Saudi Arabia.

Comments of Russian netizens
This news wasn’t left unnoticed by Russian netizens, some comments of which are translated below.
Piranya: I’ve been in Dubai and not once… have seen how the local beauties dress… very strictly… all black… and only slits for eyes are visible……………. their most expensive clothes they hide under gilbab ………. and in this images they have white dress which is not characteristic for Arab women .. :)
Alexandr: This collection consists of clothes taken off from the kidnapped hostages – probably dead already.
Cheburashka Uspenskiy: Waiting from Kadyrova for collection of bikinis.
Dmitri Stepanov: Under such dress it’s easy to hide 10 kg of explosives.
Zaur: I wonder if all of these comments above are written by real people. If so – I feel pity for them…
bukvaya: Making holes in the bags for potatoes – that’s all what Chechen designers can do.
Vnukova Anna: I feel embarrassed to ask. But where from did she take money to make this show? Could it be from the funds given to restore Chechnya; by VVP to his friend Ramzan?
t.t.t: Is it true that Chechen men and women don’t kiss?
Simachka Koshkina (replying to t.t.t.): They rub noses.
Diana Obolenskaya: Very beautiful and enticing clothes.
Ivan Ivanov: I feel ashamed with all these comments. The same people – if you can call them people – troll all over the internet and foment the anti-Caucasian hysteria. You yourself are head over the heels in troubles, mind your own business.
zharki: Very beautiful women and the clothes are appropriate; very harmonious. Here [people] write that naked belly, and tits and knees out are better… well, I can only say… bull’s to bulls, goat’s to goats… Russian comrades
Zhanna: How much evil is in the comments. That’s obviously jealousy. Wake up, people! Future is theirs, and we are dying out … We have no tradition, no morality, nothing is sacred. And they, in spite of all harassment and persecutions were able to preserve their language, customs. And their fertility is not like ours… we are more into abortions.
Oksana Panesh: You are so immoral!! Alcoholism and debauchery everywhere, where does it lead??? Think about it!! By the way the Koran and the Bible have a lot in common - real Christian women, like the Muslim, wear shawls and cover their bodies, Christian men should have beard, and not act like women, etc. etc.
In general, all religions bring to life the foundations of morality and without morality people are like animals. I’m sure that all those who wrote these comments are immoral and never opened the Bible.
gold_nostalgia: well, every nation has its own traditions… I think it’s normal if woman herself, according to her faith, chooses to wear such things; the most important – if she is not forced… and some models from the Muslim shows – I see – they are very nice)
catarina_sm: Unexpected, but the more beauty is in the world – the better :) And each nation has different understanding about the beauty…
Andrey162: Shahids have their own fashion?
Kto-to: And I like it, although I am not a Muslim, and not Chechen, but Khokhlushka [ed: Ukrainian]… Shawl, or whatever they call it, I wouldn’t wear, but all the rest is just fine.
svn: We could borrow this fashion. Our youth walks half-naked, or like peasants – in pants; nothing feminine. Well done, Asians. Honor the traditions, respect the elders. And we have spoiled the whole nation; turned it all upside down.

To my taste they are not beautiful, but at least they are not dystrophic, as the European model.
We have no tradition, no morality, nothing is sacred.
I’d take booze and an absence of religious police over tradition thanks.
Beautiful clothes, and beautiful women. I’m not familiar with Chechnya at all – except of course for what is written about it, but I’ve never been there – but I have seen lots of examples of traditional Muslim dress. All attractiveness seems to have been sacrificed for modesty. This looks like a combination of the hijab and traditional Indian garments, which are typically very colourful.
I, for one, hope that changes like this (if such clothing becomes popular, as it certainly will not if fundamentalists have anything to say about it) will gradually demystify the Muslim faith and make it more approachable. But it certainly isn’t only non-Muslims who need to lighten up to make that happen.
I definitely agree that these clothes are beautiful.
Just wonder if they really follow the Muslim traditions.
After all – strict clothing is supposed to hide the feminine beauty from the eyes of male strangers.
Meanwhile, these colorful garments make them “candies” for eyes.
Well, you’re probably right, and if it can be discerned while she is fully dressed that a woman is beautiful and has a great figure, it probably twists the needle off the Muslim Fundamentalist Foreign Perversion meter. But hopefully small changes like these would be the “soft power” that would introduce change to fundamentalist principles because those principles could no longer stand against the will of the majority, much as the Christian religion has been forced – grudgingly – to accept gay marriage.
One interesting factoid I picked up is that it’s the showing of excess skin that’s prohibited. Skin-tight (or I guess colorful garments) is cool.
At least, according to the eXile’s Dolan:
The rule in Suli seemed to be that as long as the skin is covered, anything goes, including skintight black leotards.
Personally, the fifth picture is beautiful in my eyes.
These colorful dresses are way much nicer than the black ones.
In reality, are Muslim women allowed to wear such colorful and shiny dresses?
People wake up! It’s high time to analyze who is who.
Look at this awesome ,elegant wears and be happy.
If you dont like go and drink your vodka/this you know how to do/
Fashion is very stunning.
I am Arab Muslim. And respect the Chechens and consider them as our brothers.
Where can we buy these clothes from?
I have no idea.
But you might try to ask her husband (Ramzan Kadyrov) through Twitter – https://twitter.com/RKadyrov
Why are we surprised? Another Duma’s elder called Chechen “French of Caucasus.”
Amazing collection. All within. Very decent and stylish.
I am not an expert in fashion …. but the collection is bright and catchy.
