The scandalous lawsuit of Consumer Protection Association against the Temple of Christ the Saviour took an unexpected twist.
What you see is not the price tags … these are just pieces of paper with numbers :)

The court stated that no trade is happening in the holy place: next to the candles and other products they put not the price tags, but papers on which “the recommended amount of donations” is written.
Representatives of the Consumer Protection Association sued the Cathedral of Christ the Savior for multiple violations.
According to the lawsuit, different businesses operate on the territory of the church (car wash, auto repair shop, paid parking, restaurant, dry cleaning) and they should be governed by secular laws.
Most complaints were pointed against the stalls and pavilions located in the temple itself. For example, in the church shop at the upper floor there is a sale of souvenirs for tourists, jewelry and porcelain, garments and other goods. However, the store refuses to exchange the goods or take them back, there is no book for the registration of customers’ complaints, no price tags and the customers are not given receipts.
Strange decision of the court
It seemed to be the won case.
But – according to the description of one blogger – the Khamovniki District Court decided to “stage a comedy” on that particular day.
The church representative says: “We don’t sell, we give the stuff to everybody for free and then people donate to the church, as much as they want.”
The judge Igor Kananovich nods.
“And aren’t those the price tags?” – asks the plaintiff side showing some of the purchased items.
Judge Kananovich picks up the goods with price tags attached to them and says: “These are not the price tags but pieces of paper with numbers on them.”
Reactions of Russian netizens
The case was reported and discussed all over the Russian blogosphere.
