Medvedev in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky

Medvedev in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky

Some time ago RedHotRussia published the post summarizing the opinions of Russian netizens on the presidency of Dmitry Medvedev. Now Medvedev is functioning as Russia’s Prime Minister and people talk about him less.

But today he was back to the tops of Russian blogosphere. It happened due to one photograph showing Dmitry Medvedev on his visit to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. The picture was posted by teh_nomad (one of the most popular Russian bloggers) in his blog and got over 500 comments.

This is how he described the photo.

In one photograph is the essence of [our] authorities. Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev signs autographs for school children during a visit to the residential neighborhood in the development area of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.

Comments of Russian netizens

And below are replies of teh_nomad’s readers and their own commentary of the picture. So, what did they see and what did they think?

makuznetsoff:  It’s a pity that nobody spat at him or threw a lump of dirt.

bycha1979:  No fucking chance to spit at him – see how he stretched his little hand just not to come to the distance reachable by spitting.

bronfenb:  And what is the essence of authorities?

Simply Medvedev was going on one side of the fence, and the kids were playing on the other. That’s probably a children’s playground. They ran up for autographs. Normal situation.

susdrup:  Could climb over the fence. And take away his iPhone!

[Note:  In 2010, Medvedev became the first Russian citizen to own an iPhone 4, which he received as a personal gift from Steve Jobs. Medvedev's well publicized enthusiasm for the device has led to the nickname iPhonchik (a diminutive for “iPhone”) to stick to him.]

maxus389:  Kids in the cage.

19viv69:  Dad of the nation, not less.

kOtelOk:  And later, on the piece of paper signed by the president they can write any decree :)а потом на бумажке с автографом президента можно будет написать какой-нибудь указ :)

jon_tm:

saurun:  Children were especially brought there .. I’m from P-K [ed: Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky] .. Kids are not playing yet in this area.

i_ddragon:  Children came to the zoo to watch Medved. Medved came to the zoo to watch children.

[Note:  Medved is the nickname of Medvedev, which on one hand has the same root as his nickname and on another hand is translated as "bear"]

veles_82:  Looks like the picture of WaffenSS officers in the concentration camp.
