Dog sacrificed his life to save the drunken owner, who decided to commit suicide by drinking a bottle of vodka and falling asleep right on the railway lines. The dog dragged him from the tracks, but in the end himself died under train’s wheels.

The incident occurred near the railway station of Karaganda. The locomotive driver noticed the dog and used emergency brakes. Meanwhile the dog was loudly barking and tried to push his owner from the tracks.

The dog managed to pull his drunk owner to the side. Since the braking distance of the train was very long, the dog succeeded to save him but didn’t have enough time to move his hind legs which were cut by the train. The animal died on the spot.

Ambulance took the man to the hospital belonging to the railway department of Karaganda, where he regained consciousness. His identity was immediately established: it appeared to be a 48-year-old unemployed resident of Maykuduk (Karaganda region). He was diagnosed with two broken ribs and lacerated wound of shoulder. According to man’s explanation, he decided to end his life because he “got tired”.
