The following video was uploaded to YouTube two days ago. The only available information about the incident comes from the video’s description itself:
A drunken lieutenant colonel chases after lads in the yard and hits a car.
Let’s see what kind of reactions this video drew from Russian netizens.

The driver of Accord tried to drive through the yard, he honked to another one to move aside which somehow bothered [the officer] and then it all started =))) And in the end the man was fired and also paid 200,000 (ed: almost 6,500 USD)
Is this true? (I hope not…)
That was the only comment regarding the consequences that I stumbled upon (though I was choosing them selectively, going through the most up-voted).
I think, however, that it’s not true – otherwise, it would be published somewhere else on internet.
Like in the recent case of police officer who kicked the prostitute in face ( http://redhotrussia.com/russian-cops-humiliate-prostitutes/ ) and was fired the next day after video had been uploaded to YouTube.
It’s quite interesting, by the way, how quickly the authorities reacted to the public outcry; and I am not sure that it’s so good – the law should not bend under the pressure of public hysteria.
Unfortunately, the public hysteria is, frequently, the only way to enforce officials to deal with a particular problem here in Russia. If there was no public outcry then, most probably, there was no any reaction from authorities at all.
Indeed, there are not many tools which currently can press Russian authorities into doing what they are supposed to do – internet in general (and YouTube in particular) are among those tools.
I hope that the recent speculations about the increased censorship of internet in Russia (and even blocking of YouTube) will not come true.
But I also hope that those who become the victims of public outrage can get the fair trial and not be the “bones thrown to calm down the crowd”.
Yet another drunken Russian official. I can only imagine how hard it is to actually report Russian officials for being derelict in their duty, but catching them on camera and dropping it on youtube is a great way to make sure something is done.
Drunk or not, it really is hard to pass judgement knowing what little we know about the situation. The video starts when the officer is drunk and pissed, but why is he pissed? What happened before that is unknown. He may have been justified in his violent outburst.
Also, the guy didn’t really act violent until after he was attacked. He did kick a car, which is bad, but most of the violence I saw was directed at him.
I’m not saying that he was right, but I am saying that we don’t know the whole story and shouldn’t jump to conclusions.
Imagine my surprise and shock when I saw a Russian man drunk. Lucky for me this was captured on video, or I would have never known this was possible. What next, Russian women who are easy to bed?
Being a long-time reader of RHR, I am not surprised with such kind of story.
Drunken antics seem to be all too common in Russia.
Standard situation, happens every minute in Russia.
He reminds me of Galina Brezhneva somehow
