Some time ago John McCain called the Russian presidential elections fraudulent. But even he couldn’t imagine what kind of forces stand behind Vladimir Putin guarding him against the loss in the elections.
One popular Russian blogger searched for the truth and found it in… Google Translator.
It appears that if you enter the phrase “Putin has lost the election!” in Russian, make the translation to Lithuanian and then the reverse translation back to Russian – the result will be quite unexpected…
Putin, Google Translate and Lithuanian language
Let’s see it in pictures.
1) “Путин проиграл на выборах!” indeed means ”Putin has lost the election!“. Here is the proof.
2) Translating it to Lithuanian we get “Putinas pralaimėjo rinkimus!”
3) And now making the reverse translation from Lithuanian to Russian. We get “Путин победил на выборах!”
4) And for those who don’t know Russian – here is what it means. Surprise! “Putin won the election!“

Even more interesting is the fact that this “trick” won’t work with other surnames.
For example, Google Translator has nothing against Obama losing the elections :)
