Jennifer Lopez during the concert in Moscow.
But there was also planned another, closed party in which she had to make a private show…
During the recent tour in Russia Jennifer Lopez had to appear at the private party of Alexander Yelkin – Russian oligarch linked to some exclusive contracts from Russia’s Ministry of Defense.
However, just before his 50th birthday Yelkin was arrested for corruption and the festive anniversary was canceled. Therefore, the American singer – who was paid in advance – pocketed a hefty sum of money without straining a finger.
Meanwhile, Russian newspapers are running the news stories with the titles “Jennifer Lopez refuses to return money stolen from the Ministry of Defense”.
Will Jennifer Lopez sing in Butyrka?
(ed: Butyrka is the Russian prison)
From KP.ru:
The famous American actress and singer Jennifer Lopez was invited to sing at the party dedicated to the 50th anniversary of Reserve Colonel Alexander Yelkin – in his own words a “close friend of Anatoliy Serdyukov” (incidentally, the defense minister was listed first in the list of 200 guests for a banquet).
[Note: Meanwhile Serdyukov himself was fired amid the corruption scandal]
But the day before the anniversary Yelkin was arrested.
Now Lopez and her producer must sort out this very unpleasant situation. The contract has already been signed, and they say that Lopez was paid in advance (50%).
So what now? Jennifer couldn’t perform due to force majeure circumstances (who would write in the contract that there would be no payment if the hero of the day was arrested?).
Thus, the singer and producers should decide whether to completely deny the existence of contract with Yelkin or make the concert in any case.
The fee is rumored to be almost $ 2 million – worth to perform in front of Yelkin and his “fellow prisoners”.
It’s not clear, however, how the former head of “Slavyanka” would pay for the concert, taking in account that his savings have been seized by investigators as material evidence.
Lopez is the favorite of Russian oligarchs
Performing at the private parties of Russian oligarchs is not something new for the American celebrity.
Thus, in 2007 she became a treat which the Russian billionaire Andrei Melnichenko prepared for his wife’s birthday, flying the singer with her entourage from the U.S. to London.
And last year, Jennifer Lopez entertained the guests at the wedding of Uzbek oligarch’s son.

Игорь (replying to the above): Bullshit! All big money in Russia is stolen.Чушь! Все большие деньги в России ворованные.
нина: For such fee I would sing, even in Butyrka.Да за такой гонорар я бы тоже спела, даже в Бутырке.

Организатор концертов: This girl seems to specialize in corrupt and tyrants of all colors and nationalities.Эта девица кажись специализируется на коррупционерах и тиранах всех мастей и национальностей.

No matter what color you are, what nationality you have and what job you do, we are a big family on the planet. We shouldn’t have discrimination or prejudice.
Therefore, no matter what currency you use, it’s OK as long as it’s equal to the same amount of USD as we agreed. :)
Considering how much money Ms Lopez has, I can’t imagine that she will even want to keep this money. It will do far more harm to her reputation than good. I’m sure that in the next few days there will be a public relations thing made of this from her end where she denounces the stolen money and insists that Russia take the money back.
… or some such nonsense.
Can’t stand JLo, one of the biggest fake celebs in the US. Good to know she’s so money grubbing she will take money from whomever and play wherever without doing a background check on who’s giving her what. In the US, if I’m going to buy something, she’s one of the names I check for on the list of “celebs who endorse this” and if she’s on it, I won’t buy it.
