Kazan Police Case: Six Policemen Suspended for Torturing the Suspect

From LifeNews:

The man was beaten during investigation of incriminated hooliganism. Cops “raped” him using the bottle of champagne. A day later the man died in the intensive care unit from multiple ruptures of internal organs.

Today the chief of local police department, colonel Sergey Efremov, was suspended from his duties. Also – for the period of investigation five more police officers have been suspended.

March 9 the victim, Sergey Nazarov, was detained on his way to shop. Cops asked him to show the documents. But the man, who just went out to buy food at the request of his wife, did not have the passport. For this reason cops took him to the police department “Dalniy” on the outskirts of Kazan [capital of Tatarstan].

In the afternoon of March 10 he was taken to the hospital having heavy bleeding. Doctors literally had to sew together the man’s internal organs. However, he couldn’t be saved and died the next day.

Died after Detainment

From Gazeta.ru:

52-year-old Sergey Nazarov was presumably taken to Kazan police station #9 “Dalniy” on Saturday evening for disorderly conduct. Next day, on Sunday Nazarov was taken to hospital #18 with injuries of rectum. The man was unconscious. Surgeons performed operation and the patient was transferred to the intensive care unit, where he died several hours later without regaining consciousness. Police refrained from commenting on this issue.

The press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Republic of Tatarstan told “Gazeta.ru” that Nazarov, detained on Saturday in a state of alcoholic intoxication, was previously convicted on six occasions for various crimes. He was taken to the police station and placed in a room for administrative detainees. Later, Nazarov felt bad, and the staff called an ambulance. Doctors diagnosed pancreatitis and gave him medication.

Next day the detainee felt worse and started complaining of abdominal pain. He was then taken to hospital where he was diagnosed with the rupture of rectum. Shortly after the surgery he died in intensive care.

However, the relatives of the deceased have a different opinion on this matter. Sergey Nazarov’s son-in-law Shamil told “Interfax” that Nazarov was not drunk and blamed police for his death. According to him, Nazarov was detained because he had no documents with him.

He was sober, which can be confirmed by several people. On that day upon request of his wife, he went to the store. It is not clear in what kind of disorderly conduct he was involved, “- said Shamil.

After being detained Nazarov was allegedly beaten and raped by police with a bottle of champagne. According to Shamil his father-in-law told about it to doctors before the surgery.

Although other inmates claim that Nazarov inflicted the injuries by himself, doctors say it is very unlikely that someone could tear rectum to himself in such manner.

Pathological examination will be performed on Monday in order to establish the exact cause of Sergey Nazarov’s death.

Comments of Russian netizens

Grigoriy:  As practice shows, if the police officers are found guilty – they can be… FIRED! One hand washes another.

[Note: While in English language the idiom “one hand washes the other” has a positive meaning implying that cooperation is mutually beneficial, the same expression in Russian is often used with negative connotation meaning that people who have common interests can cover each other’s crimes]

Molot:  They should be trialed, not suspended!!!

Maxi:  I want to kill a neighbor, but then I risk to be fired ((( We have such cruel laws here!

Igor:  And most importantly: all of these cops passed re-certification! That is, they are the best of the best. Can you imagine who those who were kicked out after reform were?

[Note: In 2011 Russian militia was transformed into police. All officers had to be re-certified. During the process of re-certification, the professional, administrative and psychological records of all candidates were verified. It was reported that many people were afraid of re-certification and left police on their own will]

Denis:  Our police do not kill, they just restore the justice! Thus, with the help of champagne bottle a bunch of brave officers managed to stop the dangerous citizen who in a drunken state went to buy bread.

mihail:  And maybe criminals should overlook the order [instead of police]? They at least have some rules, and “these” [police] don’t have anything.

Tazz:  Lately I fear criminals less than “trash”…

Vova:  Why do you attack our crime fighters? Maybe the man was masochist and he himself sat down on the bottle 30 times! Or maybe he even wanted to set up the cops? On the contrary, they tried to save him risking their own lives! You must understand it and reward the policemen and not make tragedy out of this! Most important is that our country is developing successfully! And THESE are conspiracies of enemies!

Leonid:  Brutality and abuse of power by police (eg, the case of Yekaterinburg Conservatory professor and many other) become the system. People in Russia don’t trust police, because it is rotten and corrupt. It’s time for the minister Nurgaliyev to resign (as in civilized democratic countries)!

Igor:  They should be executed in the same way.

Vladimir Nikolaev:  Why are you surprised? MVD is the same criminal organization as SS in Nazi Germany. They have ranks – thus, they are war criminals and should be tried as war criminals.
It’s just that our judges and prosecutors are the same………………
All are rotten.

vasiliy:  This is how we are going to live for the next six years, don’t doubt about it!

[Note: Six years is the presidential term for the newly elected president Putin]

Irina:  They [police] in order to find another pervert or maniac, only need to look into mirror. Only mentally sick people are able to do such things.

alexrus79:  Bastards and sadists. Here it is – the face of the old new regime.

smesno:  Take off your rose-colored glasses! And start fighting corruption. To begin with – let’s stop giving bribes and if there are troubles don’t look for “connections” to pull yourself out. If majority of us does like this, then maybe our children have a chance to live without corruption.

alexander000:  Dima [referring to Dmitry Medvedev] was wrong. He thought that if we rename militia to police, it will instantly become as in America. The whole thing, as it appears, is in the name! Genial! But we just wasted on it billions, and no result.

vlad_gurylev:  Seems that cameras should be installed everywhere, as some individuals are not able to control their behavior. Everything will change, when living by law becomes trendy. Like using seatbelt – once it became fashionable, everyone started using seatbelts.

[Note: commenter referred to cameras which were used in the polling stations during the last presidential elections, in order to prevent falsifications]

Alexey Platek:  While people are killed in police stations, Pu practices in biathlon.

[Note: “Pu” is one of Putin’s nicknames]

DrPrpr:  This is where the real faggots are. And someone is talking about the propaganda of homosexuality.

[Note: Recently Saint Petersburg legislators signed the law imposing fines for spreading homosexuality among minors. According to such law, for example, Gay Parade in the city will be illegal]
