Migrant workers in Russia

Migrant workers in Russia are immediately associated with lowly paid jobs

Here is another controversy coming from kreativschiks of Saint Petersburg.

The public organization “Look into the Future” published the leaflet for migrants workers in Russia. The leaflet claims to be devoted to the “harmonization of cross-cultural, inter-ethnic and inter-religious relations” in the city.

However, the migrants in this animated tutorial are depicted as working tools (paintbrush, broom, scraper and paint roller), while the native residents of Saint Petersburg are shown as normal people.

Let’s see some of the pages from this book…

Tutorial for Migrant Workers

1. Title page of the tutorial

As the sign implies, the working tools are heading to Saint Petersburg

2. Coming to Russia

Working tools are greeted by human characters of policeman, doctor, guide and official.

3. Federal Migratory Service warns

An employee from the Federal Migratory Service warns that migrant workers must register during 7 days.

4. Required documents

This page explains what documents the migrant workers must have to get the work permission. As the drawing explains – “tools” must prepare the photographs for the application form.

5. Medical insurance

Medical insurance for migrant workers

Migrant workers can make the arrangement with their employees for the medical insurance.

6. Prevention of HIV

Prevention of HIV

A separate chapter is dedicated to the prevention of HIV.

“Remember that they wait for you at home healthy!” – says the doctor.

7. Transmission of HIV

Transmission of HIV

This page shows that HIV won’t be transmitted through the kisses between the paint roller and the broom.

[Gender roles are also clear, huh]

8. Staying in the cultural capital

Saint Petersburg is the cultural capital

Since Saint Petersburg is the cultural capital of Russia, the tools shouldn’t miss the opportunity to visit few museums and learn something new.

9. Rules of behavior – what to do

Tips for migrant workers - 1

Here are some helpful tips for tools:

- follow the rules of personal hygiene
- in public transport offer the seat to women, the elderly, passengers with children and people with disabilities
- give the way to women, children and the elderly

In the drawing the scraper is advised to remove the hat when indoors.

10.  Rules of behavior – what not to do

Tips for migrant workers - 2

And here are the bad habits to be avoided:

- don’t make noise at night

… continued on the other page …

- don’t cook on the balcony or street or yards of the residential buildings

Comments of Russian netizens

Let’s see what simple Russian netizens think about such depiction of the migrant workers.

GreyFog: (referring to the images of policeman, doctor and official).

On the right there should be a whistle, enema and bribe. Though not – bribe, bribe and bribe.

grmlin:  (cartoon below refers to the recent case of shooting during the Dagestani wedding in Moscow)

Atikva:  It is desirable to translate the book into the main languages of migrants, because the practice shows that the majority of immigrants don’t even know the conversational Russian, not talking about the written Russian.

Apach:  Instead of scraper, roller, groom and brush – they should draw knife, heroin, tuberculous rod and rotten shawarma. This would more correctly reflect the essence of darkies coming to Piter.

ROFL! It’s like saying something to paint roller and expecting him to understand everything))‘Не надо мусорить!’

chupacabras:  If you only knew how often these rollers and scrapers bring tuberculosis, malaria and typhus. How many of them come to our hospitals with severe traumas because of not adhering to basic safety rules. Treatment is, of course, not covered by anyone. That is, we are treating these scrapers for free (read – for money which are taken from our own citizens). Disgusting. If you calculate everything, there is no use from inviting the migrants.

Deadkydd:  It seemed that fascism in this country which went through 1941-1945 is impossible… Unfortunately, here we are…

Kosya2011:  What is here to offend? This is tutorial for migrant WORKERS. Somehow their programmers, teachers and doctors don’t come here. Only scrapers, rollers and brooms.
