“Whom are you going to leave me for? You slept with this one? Or maybe with that one?” Few more blows knocked the woman down. Then her jaw was smashed with a crunchy sound. Mouth filled with blood. Tina yelled and her tongue felt the sharp edges of teeth, uprooted from the gums. She couldn’t close mouth – the jaw was cracked. The man sat down on her chest as Death on the medieval pictures. Tina covered her face with hands…

- Put arms behind your back and answer my questions with a nod, – He spoke very silently, trying not to wake up the child and neighbors, – Do not you dare to talk! I will maim you. Today you will die, do you understand that?

Tina recalled that he served in Caucasus… How he spoke about the training of tortures and beatings which took place there, about the science of pain and torment, while leaving the victim conscious. Now he was using this “art” on her.

Dima changed one topic to another, each time finding the reason to hit. From jealousy – to mysticism: “You’re now paying for the sins of your father-priest, who begot you out of wedlock” – Blow! Then – to education of children: “Where do you look first, when you cross the road? Wrong!” – Blow! “How can you raise a child, when you don’t know such things?” – Another blow…

When the eardrum ruptured, Tina couldn’t hear well his questions. For asking again, he beat her stronger: “You don’t listen attentively!“ Eventually, she lost not only ability to hear but also speak. The fractured jaw got swollen, couldn’t move and was continuously oozing blood. The torturer was clearly enjoying his victim’s sufferings and drank whiskey in between. He also tried to pour alcohol down her throat.

- It was miracle that I could spit it out; otherwise I would get drunk, lose control and wouldn’t be able to save myself and the child, - when Tina recalls that night, her glance freezes and stream of tears flows from her eyes. - It was terrible! When smoking, he demanded me to stretch out my palm and put off the cigarettes. Between the beatings he took me to bathroom forbidding to look into mirror, washed my face and then kissed… I howled in pain and he enjoyed it! He probably would rape me, if not blood! Since shortly before that I had an abortion…

Tina used to lie that “wardrobe fell on her”

The couple was known in glamorous circles [of Moscow]: model, art-producer Valentina [Tina] Akisheva and go-go dancer Dmitry Lyummi (Troshin by passport) met in May 2011. She was 29, divorced, with little son. He was 26 – no family, no serious work. They didn’t go to ZAGS but their relationship took a serious course. Dima moved to Ramenskoye, near Moscow to live with his beloved and since then they were almost always seen together. In summer Tina got pregnant…

From side it seemed as true love! In social network VKontakte they constantly exchanged “kiss-kiss-shmiss”. Sometimes, however, Tina would ask friends to give her good medicine for bruises – “Wardrobe fell down on me! I am possibly the most awkward person on earth!” Nobody could imagine that the “furniture” had Dima’s fists!

And Tina was silent. Like true Russian woman – man hits, and she forgives…

- First slap came in the first month [of relationship] – says the girl. – [He] got jealous at the disco. Next time – dragged me out to the street and trumped with feet on my hand… Once bit off a piece of skin on my back… But I always forgave him! He’d say that someone mixed drugs into his drink… I saw Dima drinking some pills, but he explained that it was prescribed by a doctor, because after beatings in the army he had “serious problems with his head.

This is how Tina was hooked! She felt sorry for him. Dima said that the attacks were because of his disease, that he will have a brain surgery. He would tell tearful stories how he lost prestigious job of chef because of that (something that later turned out to be a lie), cry, plead not to tell anyone because “they won’t understand.” And Tina recalled how in high school she herself had an operation because of the chronic sinusitis. And how classmates laughed at her shaved head – “Tina’s brain was cut out!”

He beat her, felt jealous, demanded to stop modeling, yelled that she doesn’t know how to raise children… And she forgave. She even tolerated when Dima started punishing her son. The boy received spanking for refusing to eat soup, for not speaking well [that is, two-years-old boy!] To Tina’s “Children shouldn’t be beaten!” the fresh stepfather would reply: “In my family we always did and this is the most effective measure of education.“

One time, on dacha, Tina’s mother made a scene when she discovered dark bruises on the boy’s back. It was clear that they were not the result of simple spanking. “Your Dima is sadist. I don’t want to see him again!” - said the mother. And this time, Tina was ready to agree with her. But she was already pregnant, so once again decided to forgive.

However, this event seriously shattered her confidence in the correctness of her choice.  And after few more “fallen wardrobes” Tina warned that she would make an abortion… On the third month [of pregnancy], she made it.

-  The last drop was his cheating… – sighs Tina. - Dima didn’t admit, but I decided that it was enough. That evening after returning from another photo session, I gathered courage and told him that I am leaving. And then he started killing me…

Escaping the torturer

Beatings continued for the whole night. In the morning the drunken torturer decided to have a rest and fell asleep. Tina grabbed her son and, closing his mouth, so that he wouldn’t shout, ran out of the apartment. Mutilated and terrified woman with a child in her arms appeared in front of the neighbor from the top floor at five o’clock in the morning: “Please, help me!“

Fortunately, the man agreed to help. He entered her in and let her to call the police. She had to call twice. Police arrived only after 40 minutes – although the station was just five minutes of walk from apartments. Apparently police didn’t want to interfere into “family quarrels”. Hardly moving her tongue Tina explained what happened:

- You need to write the complaint and go to hospital…

- And what will I do with the child?

- Well, that’s your business.

They went down to apartment. Dima was  sleeping peacefully. Awakened by people in uniform, he got scared, but pretended that did not know anything about beatings. Tina was afraid to look into his direction. Under protection of police officers she gathered some minimal stuff and went to her mother’s house in Moscow, leaving the apartment at the mercy of the maniac who almost killed her…

- I thought that police would arrest Dima, take his keys from my apartment, but they did not do that. Probably, they decided – “lovers’ tiffs are harmless”. And I was too painful to talk and convince them otherwise.

From trauma center Tina was urgently sent to the First Municipal Hospital. Diagnosis included “closed skull trauma,” “concussion”, “multiple blunt injuries, the most extensive - on the chest,” “ruptured eardrums”, “fracture of jaw with disposition”…

Meanwhile, Tina’s complaint was submitted to the police department of Ramenskoye for inspection. It seemed that now justice will prevail. Not!

Police officer of the district Dmitry Morozov came to the hospital to visit the victim only after two weeks. Interviewed her, took photocopies of the passport, information about Dima… and disappeared. Tina called him many times - to no avail. From office replied that he is at the training. It seemed that nobody cared about the committed crime!

And what about the police? After Tina left the hospital the district police officer visited her couple of times: first time to investigate the crime scene and second time – to take photos and letter; and then disappeared again. Poor woman until the last moment believed that something is happening in the police department – they study the case and will soon arrest the man who continued to threaten her life (through social network).

Finally, in February 2012 she was called by investigator.

His first question was “Do you know where to look for Dima?”

-  This is after few times that I gave all documents, phone numbers and addresses to the district police officer, – continues Tina – And now it appears that there was no investigation. My case was thrown away in some magistrate – something neither I, nor my lawyer were aware of.

Moreover, I found out that Dima was charged only with “bodily injury of medium gravity”.  That is, he has every chance to leave the courtroom with probation period or even get away with it.

But when I talk about tortures, policemen just shrug. “You never know what else you got there!” Medical records indicate only the fractured jaw. As for the burn blisters from cigarettes – although they also were treated, they are not documented in the medical records.

The pictures and the fact that the district police officer saw them don’t count as evidence. It was long time ago. If I’d take care of that immediately – that would be a different story…

Whose fault is it? Nobody’s! Simply in our country beating a woman is still not something extraordinary – and police has more important things to deal with.

This case’s outcome is not clear yet. But the whole situation seems phantasmagoric. Somewhere in the city wanders a psycho while police slowly conducts its business and even doesn’t try to arrest him. Last week Dima was finally summoned to testify… but where is the guarantee that it will not infuriate him even more? That he won’t pay a visit to Tina to finish what he started. What if come true her son’s worst nightmares – because he still can’t forget how his bleeding mother was running out of apartments closing his mouth with her hand?
