By the end of 2012 a hundred of Moscow metro stations will be equipped with “stowaways” pyramids guarding against the trespassers who jump over the turnstiles.
In order to understand why these pyramids are necessary – watch the video below and note the audacity with which the Moscow metro free-riders “pass” the turnstiles and the helplessness of police.
Reactions of Russian netizens to the Moscow metro innovation

ivanpobedaphoto: Parkourists will jump over those as well.
peach_perk (replying to the above): Oh, seems you haven’t been on Domodedovskaya, Komsomolskaya and South-Western for a long time. Lucky guy..
Lito Vingent: Reminded me this. Same level of idiocy.
indianjoy (asking about the above): What is that?что это?
i_l_d (replying to the question): It’s in Indias-Indonesias against the passengers riding on the sides and on the top of trains…
photosharps (also replying to the last thread): The balls would be better with spikes.
timoochin: They [pyramids] must be covered with oil.
flinter_ab (replying to the above): No support for hands. They ‘ll have to put hands behind the turnstiles now.
eimage (replying to the above): They’ll dive forward, land on hands and somersault. ‘Щучкой’. С призмелением на руки и кувырком.
balzakovvozrast (replying to the above): 100%!
invadimm (replying to the above): You mean the shooters at the flying targets?

Wow, that’s crazy that is so much of a problem. Especially the one with the huge metal balls. Don’t think those pyramids will work as well as they want, but its hard to balance the need to move people into public transportation quickly, and safety….
Waw, a lot of time wasn’t in Moscow. The changes are impressed. The one word – brothel.
Security is paramount in the society and needs to be given serious consideration. But with the flow and traffic of people using the Moscow metro stations on a daily basic, will this system solve the problem?
It looks so shocking! Does it happen often in Moscow?
It seems to me that Russian policemen are very creative with endless ideas. But why they are so helpless in this situation?
I’d better to give a second thought about traveling there in a short time.
I think that it is sad that this is even necessary. I wish that people would just pay or walk. I bet a lot of money was spent on these barriers, when people could just be honest. Berlin doesn’t even have barriers on their subway, it is all an honor system.
