The popular Russian blogger “tema” (Artemy Lebedev) is known for writing provocative posts in the form of open threads where the action is mostly happening in the comments’ section.
Same thing was in his yesterday’s post in which he offered his readers to photoshop the portrait of Patriarch Kirill – leader of the Russian Orthodox Church.
At school my favorite pastime was to add mustache, glasses, horns, arms with buckets to every portrait in the textbook. I still decorate the portrait of Putin in magazines which makes it funnier to read.
Today our guest is Kirill, the 16th Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia. You can draw anything on this photo.
Photoshopping Patriarch Kirill
[All subsequent photos are taken from comments left to the post above]
This picture refers to the scandal around the Breguet watch given to Patriarch Kirillas as a gift. He denied ever wearing it – the fact which later appeared to be untrue. Awkward attempts to modify the pictures on the official site of the Russian Orthodox Church in which the watch can be seen on Kirill’s wrist had been widely ridiculed on internet.
The picture above is inspired by a popular GIF in which bodyguard is seen to fold cross on the head of Patriarch Kirill before he gets into car.
Patriarch as the member of Pussy Riot.
The recent restoration of fresco in Spain also wasn’t forgotten.
Another reference to the trial of Pussy Riot.
And Pussy Riot again. This time related to the murder scene at which the murderer made the writing “Free Pussy Riot” with blood of his victims.
Another reference to church’s love for luxury.
And this is about the interpenetration of Russian authorities and Russian Orthodox Church.
