On August 6 the Russian President Vladimir Putin paid an official visit to the holy island of Valaam. The president shook hands with several parishioners, his ministers and one of the priests. Another priest of the Valaam monastery, instead of the usual handshake, bowed to the waist and tried to kiss the hand of Vladimir Putin.
Putin was quite discouraged by this behavior of the priest, pulled out his hand, and even made a threatening gesture with his fist, the purpose of which, however remains unknown.
Comments of Russian netizens
kicker9tt: Fucking shame.Стыдоба ебаная.
ggribnoy: “Blessed VVP, please allow us to open another tire shop at [the territory of] the Cathedral” – as though hints [the priest]‘Разреши, благословенный ВВП, открыть еще один православный шиномонтаж при Храме’ как бы намекает он
[Notes: 1) VVP - abbreviation for Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin; 2) The comment itself is related to the practice of Orthodox Churches to run different businesses on the territory of the temple (these businesses often not being related to religion and not aligned with the law, i.e. taxation, customer service practices)]
mfhcompany: Will Putin be tried for threatening a minister of the church with his fist? Weren’t the Orthodox Christians offended to the depths of their souls?А Путина будут судить за угрозу кулаком служителю церкви? Православных это не оскорбило до глубины души?
[Note: commenter refers to the trial of "Pussy Riot" for the punk prayer which is often quoted as offending to all Orthodox Christians]
Михалыч ЗОЗ: Excuse me, but fuck this ROC [ed: Russian Orthodox Church]. I am a believer, and this maniacal worship of Putin simply kills me. By the way, creating an idol is sin!Извините меня, но нах..й эту РПЦ. Меня как верующего человека просто добивает маниакальное поклонение Путину. Кстати, сотвори себе кумира – это грех!!!
