Putin and his daughters

Vladimir Putin with his daughters

[ Translated from the blog of Georgiy Popov ]

They are probably the most non-public children of the most public figure in Russia. Vladimir Putin is the best known Russian man abroad and most public figure in Russia. But what do we know about his family?

His wife rarely appears in public along with her husband, which even caused rumors about their divorce. Still we have seen her and we know something about her. At least, we do have the first lady!

But where are the president’s daughters, what are their names, where do they live and work, and how do the precious potential brides look like? So many questions and personally I have no answers. So, I decided to try my luck on Internet to find some information about Putin’s children.

Honestly I did not get many results. Probably because of  Putin’s undercover past. By the way, I don’t blame him, and to some extent even support. In his place, I would have done the same.

Anyway… let’s start!

***

The President has two daughters: Maria Putina was born on April 28, 1985 in Leningrad, and Yekaterina Putina on August 31, 1986 in East Germany.

First years of their life the girls spent in Germany, and even after coming back to Saint Petersburg in 1990′s they attended the local German school “Peterschule“.

That’s how it started…

And that should be near the maternal hospital.

In 1996 Putins moved to the capital and also here the girls haven’t left the “German path” and learned in the Moscow German School.

After moving to Moscow they for a while studied in the “embassy town”, but afterwards turned to home schooling.

Masha got her high school diploma in 2002, Katya – in 2003.

In 2005 both enrolled to the Saint Petersburg State University. Where have they been between these years? Maybe left the country? Some claim they were hiding in Munich. But Putin says this is a lie.

Anyway, both have successfully graduated and since then their traces are lost again. Nobody knows where they live or work …

But the most interesting thing which excites the minds of ordinary people is the personal life of Putin’s children.

Indeed, they are not little girls anymore. But here again all we have are rumors and speculations. Masha was rumored to marry the businessman Georgiy Trefilov. [not confirmed]
And Katya was thought to be a wife of some South Korean diplomat’s or admiral’s son. [also not confirmed]

And like in a good detective, nobody knows anything for sure. By the way, even university friends of the girls didn’t know who they were. Maybe they studied under other names?

Comments of Russian netizens

Here are some comments to the post in which people tried to find out any additional information about Putin’s daughters.

tutuskania:  One my university friend became a big shot in the Ministry of Finances… She once told that both daughters married foreigners… one lives in Holland; during that conversation I wasn’t very interested, so I didn’t ask more..

dakarmos (replying to the above):  I also heard something about the Dutch. That her fiance is biologist, specializing in butterflies))

mevrouw59 (replying to the above):  No, I read that he works in Gazprom or something like that. And yes – Dutch.

vogulec:  European paparazzi would get something already. But they are silent.

natura_andery:  “South Korean admiral’s son, a 28-year-old Yoon Yong Gu, who according to the local media was predicted to become a husband of Vladimir Putin’s younger daughter, has once again publicly denied “rumors” about the upcoming wedding with the 26-year-old Yekaterina Putina, and told that they are no longer together, says the newspaper Chosun Ilbo.” The Chosun Ilbo.
